# 工作表:Instructions LRC Circadian Light Combined Calculator General notes and instructions: March 07, 2017 1 | The purpose of this calculator is to facilitate the calculation of circadian light (CLA) and circadian stimulus (CS) for several example light source spectra as well as for user-supplied light source spectra. The workbook implements the formulae documented in the following journal paper and corrigendum: a. | Rea MS, Figueiro MG, Bierman A, Hamner R. Modeling the spectral sensitivity of the human circadian system. Lighting Research & Technology 2012; 44(4):386–396. DOI: 10.1177/1477153511430474 b. | Corrigendum, Lighting Research & Technology 2012 44(4):516. DOI: 10.1177/1477153512467607 c. | Rea MS, Figueiro MG Light as a circadian stimulus for architectural lighting. Lighting Research & Technology 2016; In press 2 | To run a calculation for one of the supplied light source spectra: a. | Select the spectrum from the drop-down menu in cell E3. The drop-down menu arrow will appear adjacent to the cell on the right when the cell is selected (e.g., by clicking on the cell with the mouse pointer). Click the down arrow to display the drop-down menu options. Once a selection for a source is made, press the "Add New Source" button. Your selection will appear in the next available cell in column B. b. | Directly next to your selection, in column C, a zero will appear. This zero represents the illuminance level for the corresponding source. Edit this cell to change the desired illuminance level from the corresponding source. Once the cell is deselected, the graph will automatically adjust to represent the new source. The program will then take a few seconds to calculate the new "Spectral Contribution Function", plotted in red in the graph. Typically, this would be the illuminance at the cor c. | Values for illuminance, circadian light (CLA) and circadian stimulus (CS) are displayed in cells J23, J24, and J25, respectively. d. | Adding additional sources will update the illuminance, circadian light, and circadian stimulus values displayed in the cells. The normalized SPD created by combining the selected sources is displayed in cells I28:J203. 3 | To run a calculation for a user-supplied spectrum: a. | Select “User” in cell E3 following the instructions in step 2a, above, then enter a name for the SPD. This name will serve as an identifier for the SPD in column B. This procedure instructs the calculator to use the spectrum located in columns E and F as the source for calculations, specifically columns E and F starting at row 11. Column E contains the wavelength value in nanometers (nm), and column F contains the corresponding relative spectral power values in radiometric units (e.g., W/nm b. | Enter or copy and paste the spectral data to cells in columns E and F starting at row 11. The program will accept any wavelength value and increment ranging from 1 to 5000 nm. The calculator works with data supplied in either uniform or non-uniform wavelength increments, as many array spectrometers provide data in non-uniform wavelength increments. The calculator interpolates the supplied spectral data, implementing trapezoidal integration methods to handle the non-uniform wavelength incre c. | Follow the instructions in step 2b to set the illuminance level. d. | As with the other selected spectra from the drop-down menu, the user-supplied spectrum is plotted in the graph to the right of the data and the calculated values (J23, J24, and J25) and normalized spectrum (I28:J203) are updated appropriately. 4 | To remove a source from a calculation: a. | The sources can be deleted one at a time starting with the last source entered. To delete a source press the "Delete Last Source" button. The last source added to the calculation and the corresponding illuminance level will be removed from columns B and C. 5 | For questions and comments about this calculator, you may contact Andrew Bierman (bierma2@rpi.edu) or Gregory Ward (wardg3@rpi.edu) at the Lighting Research Center.
